Masks can be a very powerful means of communication and form of hiding our true self and identity. We all wear many masks in our daily lives, the masks we present at work, to our friends, family, partner, child are all very different. These masks are in a sense invisible but so familiar. There are times when we choose to remove these masks, such as during a therapeutic session, or when we've had too much wine or sampled other forms of drugs, then we reveal the masks we keep so well hidden.
In making our own masks we can make visible those many sides of ourselves we keep so very private.
Mask making is therefore an amazingly powerful way of unlocking our inhibitions and allowing the varying sides of ourselves to emerge.

Papier Maché character mask workshop in Århus
With Stephan Vernier, maskmaker and performer with Theatret Thalias Tjenere
Four days: 18-19 April and 3-4 May
Presented in cooperation with Move'n'act Stage School.
DANISH descripton: (See below for English)
Tider: 9.00-15.00. Timer: 28,8
Pris: 1.050,- (*875,-) inklusive 150,- i materialeudgifter
Tilmelding: www.move'n'act.dk senest 7/4
ENGLISH:
In this short course, we will learn the process of creating a mask for theatrical use in papier maché, which for a number of reasons is one of, if not arguably THE best, material for theatre masks. Approached correctly, this process allows us to make a mask which is extremely cheap, flexible, durable, delightful to look at and a joy to touch, and - last but hardly least, expressive.
The art of creating a good mask lies not only in the technique, but also in the understanding of what is needed to produce a new face which has strong character traits, many expressive possibilities, and that elusive spark we could call a "soul".
Place: Søjlerummet, Brobjergskolen. Time: 9.00-15.00. Hours: 28,8
Price: DKK 1.050,- (*875,-) including 150,- in material costs.
Registration: www.move'n'act.dk . Deadline April 7th
