    • I am a beginner and want to make some molds for venetian mask making. Is it better to use positive or negative molds? What is a good inexpensive material to use for molds that is easy to use?

    • Hi Kevin,

it really is a matter of preference - I learnt using a plaster cast of my face which I built upon in clay and poured plaster of paris over to create a negative mould. This is then used to create the mask with papier mache. There are lots of posts here about the processes so I won't go into them here.

    • It depends what material you are going to be using for your mask, the mask, there are may factors an choices. Recommendation, start simple with a clay positive and paper meche.
