Agostino Dess? is born in 1952 in Serdiana (province of Cagliari) in Sardinia where the mask has a traditional importance as testified by the ?mammutones? mask and the ?sartiglia? mask. In Florence he found the ideal artistic atmosphere in this exceptional city of art. He opened his own workshop here in 1979.Since 1997, His daughter, Alice, has also been actively involved in their historic Florentine workshop, organizing "international mask-making workshops" (the last week of every month) on the practical techniques of mask creation, with courses open to anybody who is interested in and an enthusiast of this type of art

Hanging from a wall in my grade seven art teacher's classroom, was a mask woven with Jute. As soon I saw it, I had to learn how to make it. After a little coaxing, Mr. Stumm agreed to show me how to weave my first mask. And so began my love affair with masks. For the past 10 years, I have been experimenting with and producing both woven and papier mach? masks.

I was born into a Theatrical family in England, and I have worked on stage most of my life, both in UK and Canada, and I am told that my Papier Mache items reflect the humor of the stage. Blue Moon is a big centre of production of the traditional Venetian paper mache masks. We are located in the historical centre of Venice. We try to keep the ancient craft of the old "maschereri" (the Venetian mask makers) alive, that has been passed down from generation to generation.

Our shop located in the centre of Venice is a laboratory for the production of traditional Venetian paper mache masks. We try to create unique pieces according to Venetian tradition.
