Danish performer and puppetry- and maskartist Svend E Kristensen and his "Mediet og Masken" Stageart Theatre, which includes artexhibitions with sculptural value and artinstallation with sound and lights. Mediet and Masken works with an approach towards absolutely modern ritual context puppetry performancetheatre with life-sized hypernaturalistic puppets and masks. Mediet og Masken works also with huge marionettes for outdoorsettings, such as 3,5 meter tall marionettes mounted with parts from Hindsgaul Mannequins Denmark. A new Superpuppet is under construction, research in hypernaturalistic puppets, granted from the artcouncil in Denmark. The puppet will be constructed as a life-sized item in carbon fibers and epoxy. It will only be a display, hollow as it is, like a god, super strong and super light full body screen. LONGSHOT MEGABUCK$ THE ART OF CELEBRATION Longshot Megabucks started in 1986 with a group of performers and festival artists getting together to offer packages of entertainment, decorations and activities to events, festivals and major venues. Over the years we have formed and reformed in various groupings. The long term view was to gear up for the then upcoming Australian Bicentennial celebrations and to put together a travelling fayre, a combination of performance venue and market. Another direction we can take when looking for the meaning behind the Green Man is to study the character known in England as 'Jack-in-the- Green'. This was a figure who joined the May-Day revels in the 19thC, becoming particular!y associated with the chimney sweeps who along with many other trades, used this national holiday as an opportunity to boost their lean income with a little begging. In return, they provided some entertainment of rowdy variety. This involved them dressing up in gaudy tinsels and ribbons, with blackened faces "like morris dancers" and performing a rough and ready dance around a Jack-in-the-Green to the music of shovels, sticks, drums, and whistles. The Jack was a man inside a conical framework of wicker covered with leaves. A small gap was left in this, through which the occupant could peer- very like some of the Green Man figures in the churches.
