John Jaramillo's (Hara-mee-yo) Pueblo Indian heritage was the inspiration for OLD MAN KOKOPELI. John and Artistic Director, Sandra Hughes, direct, choreograph and perform bringing to life one of the Southwest's most enduring characters, the humpbacked flute-player. The story, told in mask theatre, mime and puppetry, concerns the healing of a grieving Pueblo Indian woman during a chance encounter with a magical stranger. Masks for the production were created by award-winning mask maker, Michael Hickey. A specially constructed transformation mask makes it possible for Old Man Kokopeli to transform into a young man in an instant
